Are you looking for new recipes to add to your summer grilling repertoire? This Hawaiian-inspired steak marinade might be just what you need.

Ribeye is a tender and flavorful cut of steak already that comes with impressive marbling that renders down while cooking to weave bold, beefy flavors and a juicy texture throughout. It doesn’t need anything to make it taste better, but that doesn’t mean it won’t pair well with a marinade here and there.

Marinades permeate steak as they sit for several hours in the fridge to boost the flavor profile of the beef and make it even more tender. This marinade has yummy citrus flavors and subtle sweet and spicy additions to create a steak that’s worthy of any summer barbecue.

Ingredients
  • 4 10 oz Premium Angus Ribeye Steaks
  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce
  • 3 tbsp Orange Juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 tbsp Orange Zest
  • 2 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp Honey
  • 2 tbsp White Vinegar
  • 1/2 cup Crushed Pineapple (Optional) 1/2 cup for topping
  • 1/4 cup Barbecue Sauce
  • 1/2 tsp Cayenne pepper
Instructions
  1. To make the marinade, mix together the soy sauce, orange juice, orange zest, honey, brown sugar, white vinegar, barbecue sauce, cayenne pepper, and crushed pineapple in a medium bowl until all ingredients are combined. The marinade should be similar to the consistency of thin syrup.
  2. Place the ribeye steaks in a container or freezer bag in a single layer. Pour the marinade over the steaks and allow to sit in the refrigerator for several hours, preferably 12 or more for the best results.
  3. Remove marinated steaks from the refrigerator and keep them at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  4. Heat your grill to high. Add steaks to the grill and sear for about 3 minutes on each side. Then, move them to a low-heat area of the grill and continue cooking for another 5 minutes or so until they come to your desired doneness.
  5. If desired, top each steak with leftover crushed pineapple and drizzled marinade.
Recipe Notes

An electric grill can also be used for this recipe but be sure to heat it to its highest setting before adding steaks. Each ribeye should only need about 5 minutes of cook time on an electric grill that cooks on both sides simultaneously. However, nothing quite beats the flavor you get from this marinade when it’s cooked on a gas or charcoal grill! We have other delicious ribeye options, too, like our USDA Prime Wet-Aged Ribeye, USDA Prime Dry-Aged Ribeye, and American Wagyu Ribeye, each of which deliver on the flavor and quality you expect from us at Chicago Steak Company. Order steak online today to have it ready to cook by the end of the week!
