Instant Pot Cube Steak and Gravy

Ingredients
  

For the Steak:

  • 2 lbs cube steak
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil

For the Gravy:

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 4 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tbsp minced onion
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste

Instructions
 

For the Cube Steak:

  • Transfer cube steak to a clean plate or cutting board and leave at room temperature for 15 minutes. Season steaks on both sides with salt and pepper. Preheat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Sear the steaks on each side for 1-2 minutes until they turn golden brown.
  • Transfer steaks from the skillet to the Instant Pot.

For the Gravy:

  • In the same skillet you used for the cube steak, melt the butter.
  • Once melted, whisk in the flour, stirring consistently until well blended. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 30 seconds.
  • Slowly pour in the beef broth, whisking until blended. Bring to a low boil for 2-3 minutes. Add in the minced onion, salt, and pepper. Stir, then lower the heat to simmer for another 5-10 minutes.
  • Pour the gravy over the steaks in the Instant Pot.

Finishing Up:

  • Place the lid on the Instant Pot and ensure that the valve is set to the sealing position. Manually set the Instant Pot to 20 minutes on high.
  • After the cycle has been completed, follow your Instant Pot’s instructions for ‘Quick Release’ to vent the steam.
  • Remove the lid, and allow the cube steaks and gravy to rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
