Classic Crockpot Swiss Steak

Ingredients
  

  • 2 lbs round or chuck steak, cut into serving size pieces
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 14.5oz can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp paprika

Instructions
 

  • Season the steak pieces generously with salt and pepper
  • Dip the steak in flour and shake off any excess
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the coated steaks and sear on both sides until browned. Place the browned steak in the crockpot
  • Using the same pan, cook the sliced onion, garlic, and bell peppers for 3-5 minutes, until the onions are translucent, the garlic is fragrant, and the peppers are slightly softened
  • Transfer the cooked vegetables to the crockpot
  • Combine the diced tomatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, basil, and paprika in a deep dish. Pour the mixture over the steak and vegetables in the crockpot
  • Cover and cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 6-8 hours until the steak cuts are fork tender
  • Serve your crockpot Swiss steak with your side dish of choice!
