Corporate gifting case study
Corporate gifts, in customers’ words
Four businesses describe ordering, delivery, and recipient feedback from their experience with Chicago Steak Company.
How the program was implemented
The four companies said product quality motivated their choice of Chicago Steak Company. For the catering and concessions business, placing an order could mean sending a recipient list or emailing the details of a single gift.
“We can just send over a list if we have several addresses to ship to. Or fire off an email with an address and the item we want to send. It is very convenient.”
The construction equipment supplier had previously handled pickup and shipping itself. Its representative explained that “before we enrolled in this reward program we used to personally pick up and ship meat to our different locations. This is not only a much more cost-effective method, but the ease that this company provides is spectacular.”
Gold Coast Produce’s account focused on customer service, tracking, and help when an order needed attention.
“Chicago Steak Company’s customer service goes above and beyond to manage countless orders all over the country, providing quick responses and seamless tracking. When there have ever been any issues, they have been able to problem-solve quickly as well!”
Employee participation
The three businesses using gifts for employee rewards reported that 100% of their employees took part. The study did not define how participation was measured.
The companies described employees’ enjoyment and appreciation for the products. The sentiment was particularly strong during the first year, with mentions of “surprise” and “delight.” Convenience, timely delivery, and excellent packaging were also highlighted in their feedback.
Recipient response and relationships
The accounts described appreciation for the food and the surprise of receiving a gift. The catering and concessions business described the response from its clients:
“Everyone LOVES the steaks. Usually it is unexpected, so there is additional appreciation from our clients. But the quality is always well received.”
The catering business also described the program as a way to build relationships with clients. The construction equipment supplier reported positive remarks from employees across its different locations.
The feedback describes those experiences. The study did not report measured employee retention results.
How the program compares to other reward programs
When comparing Chicago Steak Company to other corporate gifting programs, the catering and concessions business recognized that while it may not be the cheapest option, the lasting impression it creates is well worth it. As its representative put it: “It really does 'wow'. So that's why we keep doing it!”
Gold Coast Produce said that “out of the various corporate gift options, especially for steaks, Chicago Steak Company's customer service and rewards program is by far the best we've experienced.”
The success of its initial trial led Gold Coast Produce to expand the relationship. Initially starting with holiday gifts to clients, it subsequently extended the program to include employees.
The Procurement Administrator at the construction equipment supplier said that “Chicago Steak Company has made our corporate events so much better,” and that the company was looking forward to many more years of business together.
What these experiences show
The companies described high quality products, straightforward implementation, and positive recipient feedback.
These customer accounts come from an earlier study of four businesses. Participation figures were reported by the companies. No measured results for employee retention or business growth were reported.
