How To Cook Blackened Steak:

Now, it’s time to learn how to blacken steak! For this process, you’ll need a cast iron skillet and your favorite blackened steak seasoning.

Allow your steaks to come to room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking.
Place the cast iron skillet on a stove burner over high heat.
Dip your steaks in melted butter, and then sprinkle the seasoning over the steaks, being sure to coat both sides.
Once the skillet is preheated, place a steak on it carefully. You may want to wear an oven mitt for safety, as the high heat can cause splattering.
Sear one side for 3 to 4 minutes, or until it has a blackened crust. Then, flip to the other side and sear for another 3 to 4 minutes until a crust forms.
Turn down the heat to low and finish cooking to your desired doneness, if necessary. Thin steaks may already be cooked through at this point, so use your meat thermometer to check the internal temperature.

How to Cook Your Steak – Quick Guide

Thawing
If frozen, thaw your steak in a pan under refrigeration for about 24 hours to catch any natural drippings.

Season & Handle
Season just before cooking. Always use tongs when flipping—never a fork, which can puncture the steak and lose some of those flavorful juices.

Resting
After cooking, let your steak rest for at least 5 minutes so the juices redistribute evenly.

Steak Cooking Tips

Below are a few additional pointers to help you get the most out of your steak:

1. Know the cut.
Steaks are most tender and flavorful when cooked to the proper doneness- avoid overcooking.

2. Preheat well.
Your grill or broiler to hot. Charcoal should be ashen gray; cast iron should be hot but not smoking.

3. Season simply.
Salt and pepper are all you need- or elevate the flavor with Chicago Steak Company Seasoning.

4. Lightly oil the surface.
This helps prevent sticking and promotes a proper sear.

5. Sear the first side.
Cook until juices begin to bead on the surface, using the Steak Cooking Chart as a guide.

6. Flip & Finish.
The second side cooks faster, so keep a close eye on it.

7. Check Doneness.

Rare: 120°–125° F (very soft; cool red center)
Medium Rare: ~130-135°F (springy, warm red center)
Medium: 140°–145°F (slight resistance; warm pink center)
Well Done: ~160° (firm; little to no pink)

Make sure to measure temperatures at the thickest part of the steak and keep in mind steak temperature will rise 5–10°F during resting (carryover cooking).

8. Rest & serve.
Let the steak rest for at least 5 minutes before serving for a juicy, flavorful result.

Wine

The New York Strip is full of flavor and marbling, making it one of the most popular cuts around. You’ll need a full-flavored wine with high acidity to break down the fat from the steak to create a mesh of bold flavors in your mouth.

Poor delivery

original date of delivery provided was 07/02/24/ Then it became 07/03/24. The Fed-Ex driver indicated he was unable to deliver, even though I was home the entire day. They did not deliver until 07/05/24 and the ice was melted and the stakes were barely cold. The rep I was speaking to Angel, was excellent. I was very pleased with her level of service under difficult circumstances, In the end, my order was replaced and was pleased with that.

Indoor or outdoor . . still the best

Wife and I made the boneless angus boneless beef strips indoors due to inclement weather . . Outside BBQ was out so used our indoor Geo Forman . . dash of freshly ground pepper, medium rare with fresh green salad and terrific glass of red wine. Can't be beat. The Chicago steaks cannot be beat - no matter where they are prepared at home.

temperature of product at receiving

I was told that when I opened the box that was not sealed, cool to touch was considered safe and the products could be used immediately, refrigerated if used in a short time or frozen. The words were, "That is OK" The products are not frozen when received. A company representative uses the words dry ice as a cooling medium. It is not what is used. My box had 2 one pound cooler packs that I assume were frozen when the order was boxed and shipped on a Monday. They were far from that on Wednesday when I received them. I was not prepared to refreeze everything in the order. To me the box was way too large for the size of my order and there was too much air space in it. Especially when the cover simply lifts off . It could have at least been taped. How do I know it was not tampered with in transport or temperature abused. The company representative I spoke with did not give me the answers I wanted or needed to hear. I have not had the pleasure of enjoying any of it yet because I am concerned about it's safety. It is in my freezer for now. That was a lot of money for a perishable food product to be handled that way.

My husband's steak was fork tender and the flavor was just as remember from 40 years living in Nebraska. Corn fed beef, delicious! My steak was very tough, flavor was good, but the texture just killed my experience. Sorry.
