How to Cook Your Steak – Quick Guide

Thawing
If frozen, thaw your steak in a pan under refrigeration for about 24 hours to catch any natural drippings.

Season & Handle
Season just before cooking. Always use tongs when flipping—never a fork, which can puncture the steak and lose some of those flavorful juices.

Resting
After cooking, let your steak rest for at least 5 minutes so the juices redistribute evenly.

Steak Cooking Tips

Below are a few additional pointers to help you get the most out of your steak:

1. Know the cut.
Steaks are most tender and flavorful when cooked to the proper doneness- avoid overcooking.

2. Preheat well.
Your grill or broiler to hot. Charcoal should be ashen gray; cast iron should be hot but not smoking.

3. Season simply.
Salt and pepper are all you need- or elevate the flavor with Chicago Steak Company Seasoning.

4. Lightly oil the surface.
This helps prevent sticking and promotes a proper sear.

5. Sear the first side.
Cook until juices begin to bead on the surface, using the Steak Cooking Chart as a guide.

6. Flip & Finish.
The second side cooks faster, so keep a close eye on it.

7. Check Doneness.

Rare: 120°–125° F (very soft; cool red center)
Medium Rare: ~130-135°F (springy, warm red center)
Medium: 140°–145°F (slight resistance; warm pink center)
Well Done: ~160° (firm; little to no pink)

Make sure to measure temperatures at the thickest part of the steak and keep in mind steak temperature will rise 5–10°F during resting (carryover cooking).

8. Rest & serve.
Let the steak rest for at least 5 minutes before serving for a juicy, flavorful result.

Will Not Order Again

Ordered for my parent- they were not impressed. The steak selection okay but not great. The quality of the meat- hamburgers in particular were disappointing. Need to double or triple up patties to make a sandwich.

$500 of spoiled meat

Shipment arrived 4 days late and missed the memorial day BBQ. My Son was home from the Army and my daughter was graduating High school. When the package arrived the styrofoam was cracked open and the meat juice smelled spoiled. All the dry ice had melted and the meat was cooking in the 100-degree southwest temperatures. customer service said they would ship out another order to be delivered the next day. NOPE UPS just e mailed me, it will not be here till tomorrow.

The best steaks I haven't tasted.

I purchased this as gift for someone who is always there for me through good times and bad. He was a little mad at me, he said thanks, now I can never eat store bought steak ever again. He said it was the best steak he ever tasted.

Good to great steaks - customer treatment, not good to great

Signed up for free shipping in exchange for my cell number( for fleets of texts). I got the texts ( every day ) but no free shipping. 2) My delivery was delayed due a major weather event (clearly not their fault ) . What was their fault was a) being left 1st in queue for 45 min to reach a "chat person b) 1st chat person telling me to wait till delivery and contact them again c) 3rd contact - I called them with my question. Nice pleasant, kind, person-no help. ( I was told that I could refreeze the $350 order if the steaks were still cold ) This order was as a gift that I was not even going to open. There is more but you get the drift.

Unhappy

I purchased the order as a gift. received a call that the steaks, that were to be delivered the day before Thanksgiving, would instead be delivered the day AFTER Thanksgiving. I was also told a would be emailed a $100 gift certificate because of the delay. To date I have not received the certificate And have been inundated with advertisements for more purchases.

We prefer our steaks at least 1.5" thick. We also prefer our burgers individually wrapped as we often use the meat for something other than burgers.
