How Do You Cook A Bone-In Ribeye?

Grill, broil, pan sear, etc. they're all great options for cooking a Bone In Ribeye! Always make sure to plan ahead because you want the steak to be room temperature when you're ready to cook. The Reverse Sear Method is a great option or you can look at the cooking instructions on the next tab. Keep in mind cooking times vary based on thickness and watch out for flare ups if you're grilling.

Cooking Instructions

How to Cook Your Steak – Quick Guide

Thawing
If frozen, thaw your steak in a pan under refrigeration for about 24 hours to catch any natural drippings.

Season & Handle
Season just before cooking. Always use tongs when flipping—never a fork, which can puncture the steak and lose some of those flavorful juices.

Resting
After cooking, let your steak rest for at least 5 minutes so the juices redistribute evenly.

Steak Cooking Tips

Below are a few additional pointers to help you get the most out of your steak:

1. Know the cut.
Steaks are most tender and flavorful when cooked to the proper doneness- avoid overcooking.

2. Preheat well.
Your grill or broiler to hot. Charcoal should be ashen gray; cast iron should be hot but not smoking.

3. Season simply.
Salt and pepper are all you need- or elevate the flavor with Chicago Steak Company Seasoning.

4. Lightly oil the surface.
This helps prevent sticking and promotes a proper sear.

5. Sear the first side.
Cook until juices begin to bead on the surface, using the Steak Cooking Chart as a guide.

6. Flip & Finish.
The second side cooks faster, so keep a close eye on it.

7. Check Doneness.

Rare: 120°–125° F (very soft; cool red center)
Medium Rare: ~130-135°F (springy, warm red center)
Medium: 140°–145°F (slight resistance; warm pink center)
Well Done: ~160° (firm; little to no pink)

Make sure to measure temperatures at the thickest part of the steak and keep in mind steak temperature will rise 5–10°F during resting (carryover cooking).

8. Rest & serve.
Let the steak rest for at least 5 minutes before serving for a juicy, flavorful result.

Wine

T-Bone & Wine Pairing

The T-Bone steak has a higher degree of marbling (good fat content) which should be taken in consideration when pairing a wine. With that in mind, a red wine is the perfect pairing for this steak. It‚Äö√Ñ√∂‚àö√ë‚àö¬•s also safe to say that your chardonnay may not be the best choice for this steak.

Both Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel work perfectly with the T-Bone. Your choice will depend on how robust you like your wine flavors. Both score right in the middle of the wine sweetness scale, but the Zinfandel has some spiciness weaved into its fruity flavor

Steak was too thin, but had descent flavor.

The steak seemed to thin.
Maybe a 16 ounce would be thicker?

Stop wasting g your money at a grocery store. YES you pay a little more but at lease you no your getting quality meat .I have been with Chicago Beef for over 2 years .Yes I did have a problem with my package. I called them and they did replace it.Bottom line there a great COMPANY. Great food.

No what I'm use to but still good.

I always order and most times it takes a while for the order to ship. I was surprised when this one shipped almost instantly. Once the order got here, all the dry ice was gone and some of the meat seemed to now be sealed all the way. I chalk it up to a fluke and will continue to order.

The meat, what there was of it, was tasty. The four steaks were VERY thin! For $169 I hope the gift of hamburgers makes up for it.

16 Ribeye is a winner.

The 16 oz steak is the way to go. I like mine medium rare. I like it burned on the outside though so I use very high fire. These steaks melt in your mouth. Will order again.

Less than expected

So far have had 2 of the four ribeyes ordered. First steak I used reverse sear method. Second steak cooked as in video. Just don't feel price value is there.

Disappointing

I bought NY strips and rib eyes for my husband as a Father's Day gift. The steaks were very thin. The first one he cooked was a NY. It had a lot of grizzle (not the normal fat that makes a steak juicy). The grizzle took up about 10% of the steak. Nasty, stringy, inedible grizzle. I will be ordering from Omaha Steaks in the future.

I apologize for any concern or misunderstanding your delivery may have caused. Since the promotional strips are petite strips, they are packaged 2 strips per packaging. These are small 3-4 oz steaks only about 1/4' thick and stacked on top of each other in the plastic wrap. These steaks are often used as a breakfast steak.
