Cut the Carbs, Not the Flavor: Low-Carb Flat Iron Taco Recipe
Going low-carb absolutely doesn’t mean you have to give up your favorite foods. There are plenty of low-carb recipes for bread, pasta, pizza, and yes, even tacos.
One of our favorite ways to make tacos is – you guessed it – with steak! INGREDIENTS
- 1 lb. flat iron steak from Chicago Steak Company
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp Cayenne pepper
- salt and pepper
- to taste
- 1 tomato
- diced
- 2 avocados
- 4 tbsp unflavored Greek yogurt
- 1 cup pickled red cabbage
- cilantro leaves
- 8 low-carb soft tortillas (or romaine lettuce leaves
- if you're going very low-carb!)
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat with 1 tbsp of oil.
- Slice avocados into thin strips and dice tomato and onion.
- Season flat iron steaks with salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, and chili powder.
- Place steaks flat on the skillet. Sear for 5 minutes or until light brown crust forms, flip and do the same to the other side.
- Remove steaks from the skillet and place onto a cutting board. Allow them to rest for 5 minutes and then slice into thin strips.
- Spread about ½ tbsp of unflavored Greek yogurt onto each tortilla or lettuce leaf. Add a few strips of flat iron steak and top with red cabbage, avocado, tomato, and cilantro leaves.
