Steakhouse Overview
Meat lovers will be tempted simply walking by Gallaghers, as their dry-aging locker has a large streetview window, giving you a glimpse at shelves upon shelves of USDA Prime porterhouses, rib eyes, and strips. Almost ninety years old, this Theater District titan was known as a favorite speakeasy of New York’s writers, gamblers, and gangsters back during prohibition. Gallaghers still exudes old-school character, including it’s 14 hickory-wood chandeliers, dating from the 1940s. Why hickory? Gallaghers just happens to be the only New York steakhouse that uses hickory coals, giving their steaks a distinct, smoky flavor that’s completely unique to Manhattan.
