Baseball and beef, along with fresh seafood, are the focus at Mike Shannon’s downtown steakhouse, nestled next to Busch Gardens. The voice of the Cardinals ever since his days as their third basemen ended, the Emmy award-winning Shannon has been entertaining diners for over two decades. Prices are press-box high (and are, as one diner puts it, part-admission price for one of the best private baseball shrines in the country). And service sometimes struggles with the bustling traffic provided by legions of carnivorous Cards fans. Steaks, however, are certified USDA Prime, and Shannon’s resto has been named the best steakhouse in St. Louis on multiple occasions.
