Basic Steak Sauce Recipe

  • 1 1/4 Cups Ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp Yellow Mustard
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 Dash Hot Sauce
  • 1/2 Tsp Black Pepper To taste
  • 1/2 Tsp Salt To taste

Mushroom Sauce Recipe for Steak

  • 2 Tbsp Butter
  • 1 Splash Dry Red Wine Avoid cooking wine and instead open up a bottle you’d enjoy with dinner. If you wouldn’t drink it, don’t cook with it!
  • 1 Cup Beef Broth
  • 2 Tbsp Flour
  • 3 Tbsp Cold Water

  1. Sautee mushrooms in a heavy bottom pan or skillet for 4-5 minues
  2. Add wine and beef broth
  3. Reduce heat and allow to simmer on low to medium for 10 minutes
  4. Combine flour and water in a separate bowl
  5. Slowly whisk in flour/water combo into the sauteed mushrooms to thicken sauce
  6. Add sauce on top of steaks and enjoy

Pepper Sauce Recipe for Steak

  • 1/2 Cup Whole Peppercorns
  • 1/4 Cup Butter
  • 1 Beef Boullion Cube
  • 4 Tbsp Dijon Mustard
  • 1 Cup Brandy
  • 2 Cups Heavy Cream
Prep Time 3 Minutes
Cook Time 10 Minutes

  • 1/2 Cup Whole Peppercorns
  • 1/4 Cup Butter
  • 1 Beef Boullion Cube
  • 4 Tbsp Dijon Mustard
  • 1 Cup Brandy
  • 2 Cups Heavy Cream
Instructions
  1. Using a mortar and pestel, pepper grinder or other preferred method, crush peppercorns and set aside
  2. In a heavy saucepan combine the butter, boullion, mustard and brandy or port
  3. Bring to a light simmer for 2-3 minutes
  4. Add the heavy cream last, followed by the peppercorns
  5. Once the cream has been introduced be sure to closely monitor to ensure the entire pepper sauce recipe doesn’t boil over
  6. Sauce will thicken slightly once removed from the heat

Steak University Tip: For a delicious and rich red wine steak sauce recipe, simply use a good table wine instead of the brandy or port and substitute a few dashes of fresh ground pepper for the whole crushed peppercorns.
